Makes me think of the acopolypse, no life, just unmarked graves as far as the eye can see

Perhaps this could suggest that there is something positive. To whomever is walking along that path,a glance forward amongst the dead(many of them hopefully experienced with life) may introduce wisdom or hope for the future;which is bright.
Also, that path could be a metaphor for life, and the imagery a message to appreciate all aspects of life, death included. To have respect for those who have passed and all they may have taught us.

I'm just about to upload a revised version of this. This is too dark and I have never been satisfied with it. Basically it's just a little lighter. I must say, though, that I have hesitated, and now you say all this about it!
It's a spot next to my local church that looks out over a cricket club. On full view you should be able to make out some cricketers in the distance! I find it a fascinating place and I'm forever snapping away there.
I'm so glad you see so much in it. I find it difficult to put in to words why I make and show some of the stuff I do. It's wonderful to have someone make real comments and feedback what they feel about a piece. I'm so grateful.
I think my motivation with this was the combination of the dead, the wonderful view, the overcast sky and the cricket game. It just feels right to me, but the lighting has plagued me. The path was interesting but you put a whole new light on it for me.
Thank you, thank you thank you, for sharing your thoughts!
I have no doubt that you have expressed what you see and feel in this piece. That is between you and the piece. I don't believe it's possible to read too much in to a work if that is what you read!
Thanks again.
Now! To return the compliment. I picked "Flower Vase Still Life".

It is rather dark, and fullview is a must. The dark of the building provides sharp contrast which directs attention straight toward the light and graveyard. (and now that i notice them, the cricket players as well...interesting place to play). A lighter version would perhaps be better, just as long as there's still enough contrast. Good luck with any new versions,i look forward to seeing them.
